Over sixty years ago Sir Frederick Harold Stewart K.C.M.G. set aside 20 acres of land in the pristine and lush Heights of Elanora on Sydney’s Northern Beaches.
Back then the land was part of a slowly developing local suburban community, but Sir Frederick had a vision for developing the land into a youth camp facility, and within three short years, his dream became a reality when the site was officially opened on Saturday, 18 October 1958.
60 years on, Elanora Uniting Venues proudly stands as a Christian venue of the Uniting Church in NSW/ACT which hosts over 139 groups and events annually on the site.
Whilst the site may have evolved into a facility with 40 rooms and capacity to host functions of over 220 guests, the original Stewart hall still stands proudly on the site, a testimony to the vision of a man who saw the importance of facilities for the development of young people back in the 1950s.
The Elanora Uniting Venues team marked the 60th birthday recently and would like to take the opportunity to thank the thousands of guests that have been part of the history of the venue and have shared special occasions and events.
From weddings to Christian camps, to band camps and school excursions, Elanora Uniting Venues has enjoyed a wonderful array of memory making experiences across its 60-year history.
